I think finding a running F-20 engine will be tough. You can find running F-20's for between 500 and 1000. Can't imagine why someone would take a running engine out of one. Everything else seems to last longer than the engines. As for an overhaul kit, not sure what you saw for $300. I just went through my 38 and could find no available kits for the F-20. I spent $85 on rings, $90 on a full gasket kit, 175 for a valve job and then honed the cylinders and put her all back together. These engines are tough, real tough. They're designed to be worked on in the field. You can actually remove a piston in the field through the access holes. The sleeves are even tapered on the bottom so you don't need a ring compressor.
