Take a wrench, turn motor to Top Dead Center or TDC,take number 1 spark plug out,put a screwdriver in there and turn the motor a little both ways and make sure the piston is all the way up,take distributer cap off,is the bug pointing to number one or just barely past number one?If its pointing to number 4 or just past number 4,and its on the compression stroke on number one, there is your problem. You installed the distributer 180 degrees or halfway out.Easy to do.Best thing is to get somebody to help you a little,2 heads are better than one a lot of times. When its on the compression stroke both valves on that cylinder will be closed.Thats whats wrong usually when I cant get a motor started after having it apart.Lots of other things it could be,but thats the most likely.
