Hugh, I had the same delema re: partial painting as you go. I decided to use a spray paint striper which works great in about 10 min. Then go over with a scraper I found a masons margin trowel and a 1/2 inch flat joint trowel very helpfull. After that a drill w/wire brush. I decided on using rustolem paint and pro. primer. I just liked the sunrise red color beter. Having the same problem with almost immediate rusting here in s. fla. To clean after prep I used simple green cleaner and put 2 coats of primer on each peice as I went.I called rustolem they said that is good for about 60 days. but as you, I am painting as I go 2 coats about 2-4 min apart. after that they say to wait 7 days before sanding or adding additional coats.

Today's Featured Article - Oil Bath Air Filters - by Chris Pratt. Some of us grew up thinking that an air filter was a paper thing that allowed air to pass while trapping dirt particles of a particles of a certain size. What a surprise to open up your first old tractor's air filter case and find a can that appears to be filled with the scrap metal swept from around a machine shop metal lathe. To top that off, you have a cup with oil in it ("why would you want to lubricate your carburetor?"). On closer examination (and some reading in a AC D-14 service manual), I found out that this is a pretty ingenious method of cleaning the air in the tractor's intake tract.
