Hi Lazy77, yes you do require a Diesel fuel additive be it ATF or just a few tablespoons of engine oil. Reason the 784 has a Bosch injection pump and the front lip seal on the drive shaft is only lubed by the Diesel fuel. If this lip seal does not get proper lubrication it will wear an leak Diesel fuel into the crankcase. The seal is only about an $8.00 part but you have to remove the injection pump to replace it.
