I had a hard time finding a good block for my '53 Super C. Rather than put up with using my neighbor's Allis Chalmers G again this summer I looked into getting the cracked block repaired.
Engelke Machine usually grinds crankshafts, builds stroker cranks, etc. They have a big oven and spray welding equipment and have repaired engine blocks in the past. The cracks in the deck were spray welded. The external crack in the water jacket was brazed.
The block was repaired, decked, counterbores re-cut, and hot tanked for just over $350. The entire process took about 6 weeks.
