Best to just replace the cutout with a voltage regulator unless you just want to be exactly authentic original. The voltage regulator will give you much better service and longer battery life and you don't have to worry with adjusting the charge rate with the switch. You can get a regulator that mounts on the generator just like the original cutout and will look the same. A bit or rewiring will be required, but it's fairly simple and the regulator usually comes with a diagram. A saddle mount regulator should be available from numerous sources for around $40. The Cub generator and regulator are hidden up under the hood, few people will notice the difference.
