I ducked out of work early today so I could scoot up to a tractor salvage yard to look for tires. The one I was at last week had nothing. So I expected to just settle for an odd pair of weathered crap just to get me by. I went to the office and talked to the nice fellow I know who's helped me out a great deal and told him what I'm looking for. I said "16x550 tri-rib would be perfect, but I am past picky." He told me he just had some parted out front end come in off a NewHolland that had practically new 16x550's on it. Go check it out. Dirty, yes. But I couldn't find a scratch out of them! Like they had bought the tires, ran them for a little bit, and the tractor blew up so they parted it out!
I got the pair, plus tubes for $60!! I'll be picking them up Tuesday, giving them time to pull them off the wheels.
