Congratulations! I'm envious. Well please do make sure you post some pics when you get it home. As for you're question, the answer depends on who you ask. I've got a Farmall 140 and am praying that a reasonably priced 1 arm loader comes along for it, since it's a hobby tractor, my primary use is dirt work and snow removal.
However, if you're primary use is going to be turning earth, maintaining and harvesting, then I think the old boy is right. Take off the loader (and probably sell it, since it is no easy chore to take on and off) and use the tractor with other implements. Especially true if it has a PTO hydraulic pump, you're going to want that PTO shaft free, and any horsepower freed up by the removal can be better used in the field. And finally, there is the weight factor. The tractor will be far easier to manuveur in broker earth without it, and is less likely to sink. So, if you aren't going to use it that much, take it off and (here's the best part, an excuse to have more) buy a smaller tractor with a loader dedicated to little chores.
