I have never felt that a 706 or even a 756 gasser was under powered . There were only two of the gas tractors that i felt lacked power one was my 460 gasser and the other was my buddys 766 gasser . As for being gas hogs when they are kept in tune . IF they are not then they are like any engine that is not tuned up they will not preform correctly . And Not using the correct fuel makes a HUGE difference . The only tractor that i ever owned that sipped fuel was my 450 Diesel even with the wick turned up as far as i had mine if you were only going to stay out in the field till ya needed fuel you had better pack a BIG lunch.
