"unforgiven" you are correct. IHC sold/supplied a conversion kit for upgrading f-12 into f-14. For new tractors on the dealer's lot, they also supplied a new serial number for it. For tractors taken on trade-ins, overhauls, or customer upgrades they did not change the serial number, but would upgrade the tractor from f-12 to the f-14 by changing the steering post, knuckle, seat riser, head, valve cover and breather, and the oil filter/pressure relief; if the tractor had the web style front bolster that was upgraded to the solid cast style (the web style had a nasty tendency to crack and snap in two). I recently bought a 1933 F-12 serial number 3072 that has had this upgrade; I have all the parts to return it to the original state. This tractor is cool in the fact that it was the 37th one made with the IHC engine and has many different parts/details from the rest of the production tractors.
