For some reason those Cubs go extremely high in my area (NE Kansas). I watched in shock as a 1954 Cub in the condition you describe except all four tires where flat and one rear was blown out and only had a belly mower (wouldn't start but would turn over) go for $1700. I went there expecting it would go for $700-$800 tops.
If it will turn over and has decent tires its worth at least $800-$900. It could easily go for twice that (not saying its worth it though).
You see these on Ebay all the time with minimum reserves of $1500 - $2000, those cub owners are pretty good about keeping the price up there. If it doesn't sell they'll keep it in the barn until it will bring what they want.
