In the early sixties, we had one that was called either a Stalk or Trash rake. Looked like a large round spider raised up on all its legs and was pulled by a chain hooked to the back of the plow. It had a curved tube that rode in the furrow behind the plow which kept the legs of the spider out on the land and just kept raking the debris for the next pass into the furrow. Worked slick like you said. Can't remember who made it but was sold on Dad's farm auction in '69.
