Keith: The two jacks I have both had warnings not to use them horizontal. I had experience with a couple others years ago. I just happened to have the 1" fine thread bolt with about 4" of thread. I've had it for 25 years, first time I ever found a use for it.
I never intended to paint a tractor this winter. Back at Christmas time I set out to replace the seals in my Woods mower spindles. Decided since I had it all apart, I'd get the deck sand blasted and paint it. Mower looked so good mid Jan., I thought this is going to make the tractor look damn shabby. I stripped every thing down to bare castings of engine, transmission, rear end and final drives. Didn't open those castings, the only leak I had was crank seal. Basically cleaned and painted every piece that bolts on the outside of those castings.
I don't mind doing mechanical repairs, but can tell you this is my first and last paint job.
