I wouldn"t use anything in there but the gasket. That is what the gasket is for, to make a good seal between parts. If it is clean and not pitted up or warped it will seal. If it doesn"t seal there is a problem with the parts like dirty mating surface (old gasket and or sealer stuck on), pitting and or warping. Been my experiance if anything else is put on , it is a recipe for trouble down the road. Just remember to retorque it after is is hot and cools back down a couple times.
