Just guessing here, but some things to think about:
1. This is a HUGE website, with multiple boards, e-commerce storefronts, and literally thousands of posters/participants/lurkers. I'd expect they get hundreds of emails per day.
2. I'd also expect that a percentage of those emails are ticked off about something and maybe just the tiniest bit rude.
3. They're people, they need time off too. How'd you like to be tied to YOUR job 24/7?
