After getting it home, I installed new points and condensor and a voltage reducer between ignition switch and coil. The reducer was intended for a Plymouth. The 12 volts was burning points up.
That's because somebody installed a 6V coil on your Cub by mistake.
If you install a "voltage reducer" (aka ballast resistor) when it is not necessary, you will get a weak spark and the tractor may not run at all.
