Your problem could be as simple as the clutch pedal linkage needs adjustment.
To do this pull the pin from the clevis at the front end of the rod connecting the clutch pedal to the clutch cross shaft arm. Loosen the locknut, then screw the clevis up or down the rod as required to adjust the free play.
Correct adjustment is a bit over 1" of free play at the pedal before the throwout bearing begins to push on the clutch mechanism. (You can feel the free play by moving the clutch pedal by hand...)
