Hi all, My Dad bought a 1944 Farmall H off Tractor House a little while back. We got it picked up today. It was listed as a 1946, but I looked up the number and it is a 1944. The engine is stuck, but not stuck too bad because I got it to turn a little bit today, it is soaking in PB Blaster and should free up soon. This H has a IH early style wide front end and a IH 2 way Hydraulic valve. The sheet metal is nice, except the hood has a piece cut out for a alternator. (we removed the alternator). We have another good hood to put on it. My Dad and I were working on it a little today and while my Dad was cleaning the outside of the engine block, stamped in the block is "2BB", my 1943 H does not say "2BB". What does the 2BB mean? Thanks for looking!!

Today's Featured Article - Oil Bath Air Filters - by Chris Pratt. Some of us grew up thinking that an air filter was a paper thing that allowed air to pass while trapping dirt particles of a particles of a certain size. What a surprise to open up your first old tractor's air filter case and find a can that appears to be filled with the scrap metal swept from around a machine shop metal lathe. To top that off, you have a cup with oil in it ("why would you want to lubricate your carburetor?"). On closer examination (and some reading in a AC D-14 service manual), I found out that this is a pretty ingenious method of cleaning the air in the tractor's intake tract.
