Our 966"s front end is getting pretty loose, and I am looking at tightening it back up. A big part of the problem is that the splines are shot between the steering arm and the kingpin or spindle on the right side. I can see the tie rod and steering arm move about 1/2 to 3/4 of an inch and the wheel doesn"t turn at all. They were welded together 18 years ago and the welds are all cracking through. Has anyone had luck with A&I spindles, or should I just look around a junkyard for originals? Are the taper lock ones worth the extra money? I guess I would like the front end to last another 40+ years after the rebuild.
