You need to pull No1 sparkplug near the radiator and bring No1 piston to TDC on the compression stroke. Hold your thumb over the plug hole and have someone to slowly crank the engine until you compression against your thumb. Then drop a LARGE handle screwdriver on top the piston and watch it rise as the engine is slowly cranked. When it quits rising your No1 piston should be at TDC. Your timing marks should aligned and both valves on that cylinder should be closed.
Look to see where the rotor is pointing it should be aligned at the No1 plug tower. If its off you need to pull the mag and rotate the rotor to the No1 plug tower and install on engine. Hal 2-1 4-3
