Curtis: I have a 300 Utility with the same symptoms. I pulled the clutch inspection plate off the bottom of the tractor and two pieces of clutch fell out with it! The clutch had seized from sitting around too long, so when I stepped on the pedal it broke off one of the clutch bosses and dropped a spring. Now the clutch basically won't disengage, which makes it impossible to shift without grinding gears when the engine is running. Make sure that if you store your tractor for six months or longer, you block the clutch in the disengaged position per the operator's manual. To answer your question, I don't know of a way to fix the engine clutch without splitting the tractor. Mark
