The Delco 10SI alternator needs an "idiot light", OR a 10 Ohm 10 Watt resistor, OR a diode in the lead to the #1 "switched excite" terminal to protect the alternator AND to prevent current from "backfeeding" into the ignition circuit, causing the engine to keep running with the switch "OFF".
Did you change something in that area, or perhaps it HAS a diode that became "shorted".
