Because you made the comment about mattering which end of the head it goes to, I suspect you are talking about the tube that runs horizontally front to back over the rockers. I was talking about a different vent tube, the one that attaches to the vertical back end of the head and bends up to attach to the air cleaner. It is not under the valve cover and I think it's shape only allows it to attach one way while the one on top looks like the ends could be switched. The top one on my H has a small hole near the front bend.
