Well I didn't include what kinda IH tractor this was about just 'cause I figured if I did nobody would click on this....but since I got ya here now:
This pertains to my 650D. It came from the factory with hydraulics and powersteering. Powersteering on these consisted of a slave cylinder that acted on the drag link.
At some point, dont know if the original hydraulic pump in front of the distributor quit working or what, but they added an external hyd. pump out in front of the grille that's driven off the front of the crankshaft and just put plugs in the original hyd pumps outlets. When they did this, they also just ran a short peice of hyd hose to "loop" the outlets on the powersteering slave cylinder together. All the original hydraulic system is gone- the front mounted pump goes to an added-on resivior tank and fender mounted spool valves.
My question is- if it can be done- what would I need to do to tap into this existing hydraulic system to be able to make the powersteering work again? I don't care about the "correct police" in this case- I'm gonna put a loader on the tractor and want the powersteering to work. How do these slave cylinders on the steering function? I have an original parts-book diagram of what went where, but it doesn't help me much with my current "fabricated" hydraulic system. Any advice would be helpfull! Thanks!

"It's a 64 Ford Super Dexta", he said. "It's a tough little tractor, although it's a hard starter being a diesel and all." He did manage to get it running, compliments of a can of ether. Once started it putted along pretty good. It
