Wayne: You need to have some heavy duty cables with a 6v system. Otherwise, there is too much resistance in them and the voltage drop can keep it from feeding enough juice to the coil. If you don't have them, get some 2/0 or larger cables made up for it.
Likewise, make sure the cables you have are in top condition with good clean connections. That will also make a big difference with a 6V system.
