I have never seen the inside of the block, but there is a silver substance, almost like "Kool-Seal" on the outside where the weld was ground smooth. One day I plan to re-sleeve and install a piston kit, re-do the head, ect. It may not need these services, but before I paint it, I want to be finished working on it for a long time! When I drop the pan, I would like to seal from the inside with a cast iron sealant at the repair area. Also, what could I use on the outside to ensure a good, leak free seal?
