Seems high to me also.I guess it depends where you live,I'm north of st.louis 20 miles. Depending if your's is early or late super a kit which includes valves,springs,guides,keepers& a head gasket set list for about $170.00 .I can ship those for about $145.00 ups included.Some of these machine shop's are pretty pricey.I would think the machine work should be 75-100.00.Good luck Gene cell 314-313-9948 if you need help.
