I figured out what was wrong with my old M. I replaced the manifold a week ago and had the tractor running better than it had in a while since the manifold was cracked on the intake. I was patching it with silicone gasket sealer for about a while. Manifold came in friday and I was anxious to put it on. Drove tractor up to the shop took it off put new one on engine was warm but not hot at the time. Three days later it wouldn't run worth a darn so I re-torqued the manifold this time warm again, swapped the coil out of frustration, still wouldn't run right. Finally retorqued while the engine was dead cold and imagine this tractor runs like a champ after 3 days of frustration. One of those little things that comes back to bite you in the butt later.
