after you take the cap off the bolster to expose the end of the steering shaft, just unbolt the u-joint coupler up near the oil and temp gauge,spray some penetrating oil on the shaft at the joint, then turn the wheel back and forth a few times . it will loosen up and unscrew right out. the upper bolster should have 90wt oil in it, but if the bolster bushings are worn, it will leak past the seals. carter and gruenwald has a rebuild kit for the bolster for about 150.00, or you can go to your john deere dealer and get corn head grease and use that.
