I just painted my rims for my WD. I in no way claim or care to be a painter. I used rustoleum rusty metal primer and silver paint with a 15 dollar gravity feed HVLP gun from harbor freight. It will not pass inspection from the correct police (color and pre-paint prep) but paint was cheap compared to auto paint (22 VS 95+ per gallon). I have had really great results using their paint on projects. That type of paint can be brushed on with decent results it just depens upon if you looking for a show piece or to preserve a working tractor. Like Gordo said do not leave just primer on metal will rust through primer.
