Farmboy856: Water pump was not installed at factory until serial number 356001 in 1954. The tractors after that serial number were called Super A1 and engine was C-123, 3-1/8" bore and had a water pump and larger radiator.
The Super A started off in late 1947 with block part number 251069 R1, 3" bore, known as C-113 engine, with no water pump and it was non pressurized cooling system.
Early in 52 it got block part number 354898 R1, same block as Super C, however IH used thicker sleeves in SA keeping it at C-113, no water pump and still not pressurized cooling. That block will actually take 3 different bore sleeves, 3", 3-1/8" and 3-1/4". At serial number 336711 in early 53 the system was changed to pressurized, yet still no water pump.
You can add a water pump to every Super A ever built. You will encounter some difficulty finding a thermostat to fit with the smaller radiator used prior to serial 356001.
