The timing is adjusted by rotating the cast frame where the bar attaches. The frame is threaded onto that big pipe. Look at it, and you can see threads showing. You will have to unhook the break a way bar, and lifting mechanisms in order to do it. I would suggest that it was out of time to start with if it kept on breaking pitman rods. I have mowed thousands of acres with a C-21, and 24 with standard pitmans, and no problems. Mowed lots of Bluegrass, and it don't get much finer or tougher to cut. To cure the bolt loosening problem doubl nut or brad the threads of the bolts. If you want you can email me, and I will send pics of the things I am talking about.
