Always a good question.
Pick your brand, then pick your plug. As a general rule of thumb, the lighter/less you're gonna work it, the hotter the plug you want. I've got Autolite 388s (hottest) in my pride and joy BN, as I don't expect it will ever work too hard again. My SuperC gets a work out when she runs, and I've got 386s (just hot) and they work fine. I don't know the numbers on the cooler Autolites.
On the Champion side, there's D15 (not so hot) and moving up D18, D21 and D23 (hottest and equivalent to the Autolite 388). There may even be a D16 in there, I'm not sure.
Depending on when yourtractor was made, they might have originally recommended a D15, which would have been for a working tractor on the higher octane gas that was called "regular" in those days. With today's gas, I wouldn't want to go to anything in the Champion series than a D18 or its equivalent in another brand.
That said, just remember less work = hotter plug. Any good counter guy will know what you're talking about.

I've already drilled the center of the bolt out with about 7/64" drill bit the entire length of the bolt. Only one end of the bolt is visible. I tried to use an easy out but it wasn't budging and I didn't want t
