I was still in high school in 1950. The Korean War had just started some of my classmates joined the military. I should've graduated that year, but my class was the the first class to start the 12 year program in MD. In 1951 after my brother and I graduated my brother joined the Air Force about 3 days after we graduated. When my mom ask where my brother was, I told her he's on his way to NY for basic training for the Air Force. I told her to get use to the idea since I knew I was going to be drafted. We both could've had deferrments to stay on the farm, but decided not to stay. Looking back I we think we made the right decision. Hal
