I put new brushes and brass sleeve in the generator. Put on a brand new VR (6volt positive ground). Hit the kill switch and it moves towards negative ground start her up and it move more to the negative side. Tried motor test on gen and it spins (however it didn't seem to speed up when i removed the F grounded wire, but it was turning pretty fast either way). So inconclusion it didn't do anything more then it was before. I was wondering (grasping at straws here) would it make any difference if the wire comming from the ammeter to the VR is only a 12-14 gauge instead of the 10 gauge?
Also I have ohm'ed everything and everything seems to be making a good ground generator, VR, even ammeter case.
