Don't try a plug because the kero/dist jet is a different size, but it could have been replaced with a gas jet, I do not know. Leave the governor alone, unless you are sure it was acting up before. If you turn the screw in the whole way, there is no fuel and it won't run. I am not sure what you did to the carb, but the procedure is to diassemble the carb, soak in true carb cleaner overnight, blow out with compressed air, put in a new kit and set the float to specs. Adjust the main jet at operating temperature by turning the screw in until engine stumbles, out until smooth. Do the same to the idle jet, you may have to repeat the procedure a couple of times. That is generic, as I don't have info on a distillate carb for a SC.
