The serial # will not nmake a difference. Except diesels, all M farmalls (and a bunch of others with two bolt starters are alike. The issue may be that the starter drive is locked up into the ring gear. Loosen thr starter and wiggle it a bit. This can free the drive. A replacement drive is available from CaseIH (and others)that is called a clutch style drive. This solves the jambing issue. I believe that if the starter is actually bad (less likely) the repair shop should do the work for free to make it right. JimN
