If the rods are in bad shape with a lot of wear they may need to be rebabbitted. The crankshaft would need to be checked by a good auto machine shop to measure the shaft for wear and decide if it needs to be ground undersize. It may be egg-shaped from the dipper oil system and should trued so their's no high spots on the shaft.
There's a place in WV that rebabbits rods and you should call him or any other place that does this to see if they can redo your rods. Any of them will need the rod journal measurements so they can size the rods. At one time years ago this was big business. I had Federal Mogul do some off a twin cylinder garden tractor, but I don't think they do that now. Hal I will post the phone number later. Can't seem to find it.
