My grandpa bought one of the 454 diesel's new the year I started first grade. Can remember scaring him and grandma out of their wits when I figured out how to start it that summer.
He bought a second one used with a 1550 loader about the time I started high school.
Can remember spending many a summer on them cutting, rakeing and/or baling hay. And a pretty good bit of time cleaning chicken houses and spreading compost. Can't remember any problems with either of them in the 18 years I was around them (other than busting a hydralic line on the loader).
My dad bought a 484 the same year I graduated high school... never knew him to have a problem with it. Somewhat larger physically than the 454 grandpa had but same basic tractor.
In short I've always thought both the 454s and 484s were good tractors... and wish I had either.

I tried to use an easy out but it wasn't budging and I didn't want t
