In the spirit of adding a hint....break one of the old rings and use it scrape the carbon and gunk out of the ring groves on your pistons. It's just the right thickness and is hard enough to dig that stuff right out of the grooves. Important thing as already mentioned is to ensure you get ALL the crud out of the grooves before installing the new rings.//FB
