If radiator looks fairly new and overheats. The newer ones will do that. I have a cub that never ran hot. I even had to eliminate 50% of the cooling tubes because of leakage. It still never ran hot. I replaced radiator and the new flat, ribbon tu bes do not cool as well. If you do replace rad, make sure new one has round tubes about 3/8 inch inside, not ribbons like new cars. Cracked head, block, or gasket could allow combustion leak into water jacket and this would overheat and blow out coolant.
