If the tractor has a magneto, there should be no wires going to any part of the ignition. That may be it in a nut shell. Put a switch connected to the #1 terminal and the load side of the amp meter (not the side connected to the positive battery cable at the starter) This new switch starts the alternator, and is on when running the tractor, and off when the tractor is off, but is not the ignition switch it is very seperate. Tell us more if this does not fix it. JimN
