The mowers are the same, but the mounting hardware is entirely different and the Cub mounting won't fit on the A at all. You could buy new hardware for the A from Woods, but it's gonna cost you a bundle. You might try some salvage dealers to see if you can locate the parts you need. Also, I don't believe Gene is correct in saying you only need to change the belt to reverse the mower direction. The left and right hand mowers have different spindles. The blade mounting bolts on the left hand mowers are left hand thread and on the right hand mowers right hand thread. If you just reverse the rotation without changing the spindles, the blades won't stay tight, a dangerous situation. I once got confused on the belt arrangement on my L 59 mower on my 140 and ended up with reverse rotation. Since the blades were turning backwards, it would not mow very well at all, but before I figured out the problem one of the blades came off due to the reverse rotation.
