The mag is, as I stated, not connected to anything but the mag Kill switch in the electrical box. (push pull, on off switch) That switch is a single terminal switch that grounds the wire attached to it when the switch is pushed in, and opens (allowing mag operation) when pulled out. No modifications are made to any part of the ignition Mag or grounding switch or the single wire running to it.
Assuming a three wire SI10 GM delco alternator.
The alternator should be connected as follows: a #10ga wire connects to the big "bolt on" terminal on the alternator. From there it is connected to the amp gauge, on the load side of the gauge (the side not attached to the Battery + side through the Starter Switch) Using a Fuse link saves burnt parts and fires.
