The load adjustment screw needs to be turned 5 full turns off its seat to get maximum horsepower. At this point the pointed screw tip is completely out of the seat and the fuel is metered at the full volume possible for max power for plowing, tillage, silo filling, or any job where you need the engine's maximum power. Of coarse it will use the most fuel that way.
If you are are doing work that doesn't require full power like parading, pulling wagons, etc., you can screw it back in 2 to 3 turns. This will save fuel, but you won't have full power if you need it.
