The 308 is referred to as a Black Diamond engine, but it's actually more closely related to the Blue Diamond series of engines, as used in the K- and L-series trucks, K/KB-6 and L-160 and larger. The short valve cover and the tall distributor shaft help identify that series of engines. The true Black Diamond engines are more similar to the engines found in the 460/560/706/806 tractors.
