I'm gonna side with you that the idea's got enough merit to be investigated some more! You're correct about most folks wanting to keep the old iron at least looking original, so that may be a factor in opposition here. However...this may be a little bit like electronic ignition - if it really turns out to work, some will convert! One nice thing about some of the old tractors, particularly the Farmall letter series, is that they are so darn durable and versatile that things keep being thought of that keep them useable! Look at all the aftermarket stuff that's been put on H and M tractors over the years! If you start making a list of things you've seen, it will surprise you how long it quickly becomes.
