That's quite a story. That legend of the team goin down in a sink hole was being told back in the 60's, too, so it MUST be true! Actually I don't doubt it. Hyannis is the next town west of Mullen, which is then next town west of Seneca and Thedford. The rancher I worked for lived near Brownlee, stuck out in the hills between Thedford and Valentine. That Fawn Lake Ranch and the Deer Creek Ranch further west, south of Gordan were owned by a wealthy farmer, "HM" from my home town, whose house was just a mile down the road from my dad's farm. He also owned hog farms in Iowa, and grain elevators from Linoln to Sioux City. I went to high school with HM's youngest daughter, and my sister graduated with his youngest son. I believe that HM's estate sold at least one of those two rancches to Ted Turner to raise buffalo. My how times change, yet they stay the same...to think this Olsen feller is still stacking hay the same way its been done for 60+ years. WOW! Thanks, G
