Curtis: These older glow plug diesels like D-188 and D-282 can be annoying to bleed air from the system. Main problem is the added cranking while maintaining glow plug use.
After you replace fuel and it is always best to put in at least 5 gallons for that restart, bleed the filters which should get solid fuel close to pump. It should have a bleeder on top of each filter and this can be done by graviety, no cranking. Next loosen injector lines on 2 or more cylinders at the injector. Crank the engine, without glow plugs until fuel without bubbles comes out loosened lines. Retighten the injector lines and it should start.
If it doesn't start, I'd tow start it rather than bleed the batteries by prolonged cranking while using glow plugs. Find a vehicle able enough to pull the 504 in road gear, and no faster than road gear. in other words don't over rev the engine while tow starting. Tow starting a diesel is not like gas where a quick pop of the clutch works. Tow starting these is a matter of steady speed, with engine turning, glow plugs engaged, until tractor starts to fire. You can do this in 4th gear if tow vehicle is steady and heavy enough, main thing here is have the tow vehicle same speed as 504 would travel at selected gear and throttle setting.
