Hi Peet, I hate to be a bearer of bad news but sounds like someone drove the tractor with the parking brake engaged. This is a common problem on this make of IH tractor. The idiot light for parking brake burns out and operator drives away with parking brake on. The x95 series has a flashing parking brake light on the dash. Problem is the parking brake is a band around a drum in the rear transmission and when driven with the brake engaged it chews the friction coating on the band to bits and scores the drum. The next problem is these bits of band get into the hydraulic system and clog the hydraulic filter and sometimes into the MCV valve causing it to malfunction. See http://caseih.com/home.aspx?RL=ENNA then search for parts then model 784 page 04-5 has parking brake.
Re hydraulic, I assume you are talking about 3pt hitch? If you are not using a plow or cultivator make sure the draft control lever is fully forward and use the raise/lower lever to control height of 3pt. If you are using a plow or cultivator push the raise lower lever forward and adjust depth with draft control lever. There is a raise/lower response control lever by PTO lever it controls the lift and drop speed of the 3pt.
